About us

We started as a club. We became a research team.

Girl Playbook is written by the Girl Playbook Research Team, a group of folks who got tired of guessing about their own bodies.

It began with a handful of us comparing notes on the things we didn’t want to ask anyone else about. Leaks. Odors. Bloating. Night sweats. The questions you type into a search bar late at night and then close the tab.

What we found online frustrated us. Much of it was vague, some of it was years out of date. So we started reading the source material ourselves: medical journals, university research and clinical guidance.

The more we read, the more we realized how much had changed, and how little of it had reached the advice women actually see. We put our heads together, kept digging, and loved the results we were getting. Eventually the little club became a research team, and we decided to publish what we found.

  1. 01

    We read the latest research.

Our work starts with journals, university research and clinical guidance, and every article links to its sources.

  2. 02

We keep it plain and kind.

No shame, no scare tactics, no jargon you have to decode. Just what’s going on and what you can do about it.

  3. 03

    We’re honest about limits.

We’re researchers, not your doctor. We say what the evidence supports, what it doesn’t, and when it’s time to see a clinician.

  4. 04

    We keep looking.

Research moves. When it does, we update our articles, and we welcome corrections.

Our editorial standards

Sources on every article
Every article lists the research and clinical guidance it draws on, with a link to each one. Articles can’t be published without them.
Numbers that point somewhere
Each small number in the text links to the exact source behind that sentence, and each source links back to where it’s used.
Dated and kept current
Every article shows when it was published and when it was last updated. When the research moves, we revise.
Corrections, openly
If something is wrong or out of date, use the “Tell us” link on any article or email [email protected]. We check every report.
Education, not diagnosis
We explain what the evidence says and when to see a clinician. We don’t give personal medical advice. Read our health disclaimer.
Written by the team
Articles and Playbooks are researched and written by the Girl Playbook Research Team together, so they carry the team’s name rather than a single byline.

Read what we found.
