Broken Denture: Bring the Pieces to Your Dentist
Breath & MouthArticleContact a dentist for urgent advice and ask whether your denture can be repaired.

In this article
For a broken denture, contact a dentist for an urgent appointment or get advice from NHS1 111 in England. Elsewhere, contact your local urgent dental service. The service will advise what care your symptoms need.1
What should I bring?
Bring any broken denture parts to the dentist. NHS1 guidance says the dentist can check whether they can repair them.2
Does a break mean I need a replacement?
Have the dentist assess it rather than assuming the outcome. Ask what is possible for your denture and what individual instructions apply while the problem is being addressed.2
Try: “Here are the broken parts. Can this be repaired, and what should I do while waiting for the next step?”21
Is It My Breath? includes a visit script. Use it to collect questions for your dental appointment. See the book.
