3 Follow-Up Questions About Bulkamid Bladder Injections
Bladder & Pelvic FloorArticleAsk whether the expected result includes repeat treatment.

If a bladder injection sounds appealing because you want to stop packing spare clothes, ask what the treatment plan includes after the first visit. The follow-up matters when you compare the options.
Three questions for the follow-up plan
- Does the quoted result include more than one treatment? In the labeling’s 228-woman study, 176 women received additional injections. The study allowed up to two additional treatments for continuing symptoms. Those outcomes include repeat treatment.1
- How will we decide whether another injection is appropriate? Ask when your team reviews leakage, what they would count as useful improvement and which alternatives they would discuss if it continues. Bring the activities that still cause leaks, along with the outcome you hoped for.
- Who should I contact about recovery problems? The labeling describes urinary infection, painful urination and difficulty emptying the bladder among possible complications. Ask who to contact and which symptoms need urgent help.1
Keep the treatment record with your notes
Tell future healthcare professionals that you have a permanent implant.1 Ask the team for the product details and a record of each treatment date. Keep these with the written recovery and follow-up instructions.
Before deciding, ask how the full proposed pathway fits your schedule and budget, including a possible repeat appointment. You can write “I want to walk without planning an outfit change” as a goal, then ask how the clinician will evaluate that goal alongside the clinical results.
Laugh, Sneeze, Jump includes a three-day bladder log and an appointment prep sheet. Use them to organize when leaks happen and the treatment questions you want answered. See the book.
