Domperidone: Bring Your Heart History and Medicine List
Bloating & DigestionArticlePrepare an individual medicine review with your prescriber or pharmacist.

If you take domperidone and develop a fast or irregular heartbeat or a seizure, seek emergency care now. In the UK, call 999 or go to A&E; elsewhere use your local emergency service. Do not drive yourself.1
Bring your history
For adults whose clinician has proposed or prescribed domperidone, the NHS2 advises telling the doctor or pharmacist about heart problems or an irregular heartbeat, liver or kidney problems, and other relevant medical history before taking it.3
Bring the complete list
Include all medicines, herbal remedies, vitamins and supplements. Some medicines interact with domperidone and may increase side effects. Give the prescriber or pharmacist the exact details for individual review.2
Ask for your own assessment
Try: “Here is my health history and complete medicine list. Is this proposed medicine suitable for me, and what concerns should I report?”32
Bloated by Dinner includes a visit script. Use it to organize questions for your care team. See the book.
