When travelling with prescribed HRT, check the medicine rules for your journey. Collingwood Health Group’s1 general prescribed-medicine guidance says to check all countries you visit, including those you pass through, and contact the relevant embassy about their rules.1

Gather the details

  • Your exact medicines, including generic names, forms and quantities.
  • Destination and transit countries.
  • Travel dates and your prescription details.

Use these details when asking each country’s embassy what requirements apply to the medicines you plan to carry.

Ask about documents and storage

Collingwood advises discussing travel plans with your GP or practice nurse. Its guidance also recommends prescription documentation and pharmacist advice about storage when travelling somewhere warm.1

Ask: “I take these prescribed HRT medicines and will travel through these countries. What documents and storage arrangements should I check?”

Check any letter requirements with the relevant authorities. Ask your practice about arranging documentation and any charge. Keep the answers with your travel notes.
