Light
Make light work for your sleep
A darker room can support sleep. Keep dim lighting where you need it to move safely.
Reduce an unwanted light source while keeping needed night lighting.
Noise
Choose a quieter corner of the night
Reduce avoidable noise if you can. Preserve alarms and sounds you need to hear.
Reduce one avoidable noise source without blocking essential alerts.
Temperature
Aim for comfortable and cool
Adjust bedding or the room toward a comfortable, cool setting. Your comfort matters more than a universal number.
Make one comfortable adjustment to room temperature or bedding.
Wind-down
Create a little quiet time
Try a calmer period before sleep, with less bright screen light. Choose something realistic for your schedule.
Choose a quiet activity before sleep and reduce bright screen light.
My small plan for tonight
Choose a room area and include a change to start your plan.
No need to perfect the whole room. Start with one manageable change. The illustration changes when you select an idea; it does not predict your sleep.
If poor sleep or daytime tiredness persists, talk with a health professional. Breathing pauses or frequent loud snoring warrant assessment. Women can have sleep apnea without obvious snoring. Room changes cannot treat sleep apnea; chronic insomnia may need treatment such as CBT-I.

Can a bedroom checklist treat insomnia or sleep apnea?
No. This is an environment planner, not a diagnosis or treatment. Persistent sleep problems deserve assessment; the sources below include guidance on seeking further help.
